Moving to Minnesota can be an intimidating experience. People moving from warmer climates are concerned about our cold weather and snow in winter. But, what catches many people by surprise is the cool reception they get when trying to create connections and make new friends.

The “Welcome to Winter Experience” is an introduction to the social opportunites and exhilaration that is the lifestyle of snowmobiling. Riding snowmobiles is a wonderful social activity enjoyed by families and supported by numerous clubs that welcome new members. These clubs ride and maintain over 22,000 miles of snowmobile trails in Minnesota alone.

The program consists of three segments. All participants receive a personal phone introduction to determine their interest and experience with power sports, as well as their clothing needs. Everyone will be required to pass an online safety course provided by the State of Minnesota prior to their experience for safety.

Events are staged at any location selected by the sponsor that is accessible to a snowmobile trail with good conditions. All snowmobiles and equipment are transported to the site and set up for the group. A tent may be used as a staging area for people to dress and receive hands on instruction and become familiar with their provided snowmobiles.

Event participants are provided proper clothing and safety gear to assure a pleasant experience in all weather conditions. Every rider receives safety training on the proper handing and riding technique for snowmobiles prior to their experience. Events are guided by experts who will be leading and following each group. They are in contact with each other throughout the ride to assure the pace is comfortable for everyone.

Several stops along the experience make this an engaging social interaction. These stops allow each of the participants to interact and share their wonderland experience. Organizers will stay in touch after each experience to learn about personal impressions and gather suggestions for future events.
